UF Selects Chartwells Higher Education as its Partner for Campus Dining
New partnership will bring nearly 60,000 students a completely transformed dining experience
Charlotte, N.C., May 2, 2022 – The University of Florida announced today it has chosen Chartwells Higher Education as the official food provider for campus dining, effective July 1.
UF issued a call for proposals from qualified food service companies in July 2021. After a thorough selection process, Chartwells was ultimately selected for its expertise in the higher education industry, ability to reinvent the on-campus dining experience, and mission to engage with and serve students in innovative and meaningful ways.
“We were very pleased with Chartwells’ ability to customize its food offerings and services to our student body, its commitment to sustainable practices, and its efforts to engage with the campus and local community,” said Matt Mueller, director of UF’s Food and Beverage Services. “We’re looking forward to this partnership – not only for the high-quality and variety of food – but also for the student engagement portion that comes with it. A positive dining experience is crucial for our students, and we’re excited to see Chartwells transform our dining services.”
As the campus’ new food service provider, Chartwells will focus on a number of strategic priorities while delivering high-quality, flavorful, and nutritious food options for students, including:
- Reimagining the future of Broward (Fresh Food Company) and Gator Corner dining halls. The facilities will be updated to transform the dining experience, create an inclusive food culture environment, and enhance customer service.
- Bringing new and exciting hyper-local brand partners to campus.
- Engaging students and key departments across campus to help shape the future of the food program. Chartwells will work closely with students to ensure their voices are heard and reflected in the dining halls, campus events, and in the flavors and variety of food.
“We look forward to creating a customized dining experience for the University of Florida that incorporates direct feedback from students, added Nelson DeFigueiredo, division president, Chartwells Higher Education. “Our approach is to align with UF’s culture creating a program that celebrates the campus’ rich history and supports partners in the local community. “
Chartwells will provide opportunities for current dining associates to join their team. For more information on Chartwells, visit chartwellshighered.com. For more information about the upcoming transition, please visit our Dining Transition FAQs.
